Hi there, my name is Lourdes Perez and I am the Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP) Instructor at Metis Counseling & Wellness LLC. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. My legal background covers a time span of over 18 years. I have worked in law firms dealing with construction defect, civil litigation to working at the Midland County District Attorney’s office and then became an adult Probation Officer with the Midland County Probation Office. As a Probation Officer, I was assigned to probationers with high-risk felony, sex offender cases, and electronic monitoring. I maintained comprehensive narratives, prepared assessments and reassessments, and supervision plans for each client. Refer clients to various departmental and community resources based on their assessments/reassessments. I continually evaluated and documented the client’s compliance/non-compliance to determine the effectiveness of their supervision. I retired from the legal field in 2017 but have continued to assist those in need.
During my time as a Probation Officer, I took a leap of faith and became a DOEP instructor in 2017 to the present. I continue to assist our clients with the necessary tools to regain a valid driver's license in order to be an independent positively contributing citizen to our community. I see that there is a need in our community and if I can help to fill just that minute void, then hopefully that will grow into a large helping hand down the road.
